A look back at the last 25 years

13. June 2023

Our LASAK Implantology Conference is perceived as being an international meeting place for practitioners in the fields of implantology and oral and maxillofacial surgery. This was the 25th time we have organised this event. It is a special occasion for us, where we can greet our clients personally and discuss things with them for which there is often no time in the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Our Managing Director Jakub Strnad looks back on the history of our implantology conference and at this year’s event in an interview with Ms Reichert from the prestigious German Implantologie Journal.

From the very beginning, since the 1990s, we have tried to invite experts in implantology and oral and maxillofacial surgery not only from the Czech Republic but also from abroad so that they could bring the latest trends to us and we could raise the standard of professional discussion to an international level. The gradual development of implantology can also be seen in the programme of our conferences. In earlier years, the focus was mainly on technical things – the implant surface, implant shape, various GBR techniques, etc. In recent years, there has been more focus on aesthetics, soft tissue and digital technology. It is always important for us to bring practical information to the audience and to create a space where our clients and partners from different parts of the world can share their experiences and knowledge.

At our implantology conference this year, there was also a presentation from a practical perspective given by Prof. Jörg Neugebauer from Germany. As an implant manufacturer, we also consider the ageing of society as an important topic. We are trying to find new and efficient ways of treating this expanding target group in a gentle and minimally invasive way. It has been shown that the parallelism of the anchoring elements is the factor that has the most significant influence on the longevity and abrasion of the retention elements as well as on the comfort of the patient. Angled attachments for hybrid restorations should, therefore, no longer be missing from our product range.

You can read the answer to the question of why we view digital technologies positively in the work of dentists and dental technicians, as well as the whole interview with our Managing Director, Jakub Strnad, in Implantologie Journal No. 06/2023 in the German original or the English translation .
